INCREASE IN ELIGIBILITY THRESHOLDS EFFECTIVE MAY 31, 2016

Legal Aid:
A Network At Your Service

The Commission des services juridiques is the agency responsible for applying Québec’s Act respecting legal aid and the provision of certain other legal services and for ensuring that legal aid is provided to any eligible person who applies for it.

Every year, thousands of Québecers rely on some 350 legal aid lawyers for legal advice or to represent them before the courts. These experienced professionals are responsive to their clients’ needs and diligently defend their interests

Since April 1, 2014, the Service administratif de rajustement des pensions alimentaires pour enfants (SARPA) [child support recalculation service] has allowed parents to have the amount of support for minor children recalculated through an administrative process. For more information, click here

Also, since October 10, 2013 The Homologation Assistance Service (HAS), which provides assistance for the modification of a judgment concerning family matters is offered to all parents, whether or not they are financially eligible for legal aid. For all the details, click on the "Homologation" tab above.
